Building a WebsiteClearly if you want to build a business online then you are going to need a web presence.This presence come in two forms a blog or a website.I talk about blogs below,but for websites you can either go off and learn HTML code and build one yourself. OR cut the time taken and build a site using SBI.You still have to write the words but the techie side of things is handled by SBI.So here are some of the resources available to you from SBI. Build your own site from scratchIf you prefer you can build a site using a website building platform such as Dreamweaver.You are going to need a few things in your tool box if this is to work.One of them is an auto responder which in essence is an email management system.You can send out the same email to everyone on your email list at pre determined intervals.The one I use is Get Response which you find by clicking on the image below.
The third big autoresponder is Aweber which starts at $19 a month though if you pay a whole year in advance it is $194. Web HostingIf you intend to build your own website you need to register your domain name and have your site hosted.I use Go Dadday who offer domain names for about $10 and web hosting for about $37 a year.You can find them here: Go Daddyis great for checking if the domain name you want is already taken by someone else,and if it is Go Daddy offers close alternatives. As part of your hosting package Go Daddy also offer an email service linked to your website.You need this,do not use Gmail or Hotmail it looks unprofessional. The other hosting service I use is Hostgator which in my opinion has a better user interface than GoDaddy. If I do use Hostgator then I use Namecheap for domain names.Their prices are slightly cheaper than Go Daddy.If you do buy a domain name from one company but have your site hosted by another, then you will need to link the two with code provided by the hosting service. In that way when someone types in your URL Namecheap knows who is hosting the website with that name. Keyword ResearchIf you sign up with SBI then you will have access to the best keyword research tool there is.There is no point in building a website about something very few people are interested in.You must have a list of keywords for which there is good demand but little competition from other websites.SBI uses the resources of Wordtracker which is the best keyword research tool I know of.You can use their service directly through monthly subscription but the SBI package does work out cheaper. If you do go down the Wordtracker route then they have an excellent book 50 Kick Ass Keyword Strategies which will help you in your research. Website DesignOk so you have your website name registered and you have a webhost.You have done your keyword research and are ready to write great content.Well you still have to then design your website.Again SBI can take of this all for you.They have some great website templates that are part of the package.Even web hosts can offer website templates but if you want one that is unique to you then unless you go and study HTML for six months you will need a web designer. I recommend you go with 99 Design.Com .The beauty of this site is that web designers compete to win your business.So you can look at several designs, pick the one you like but only pay for the winning design. Find out what your competition is up toKeywordSpy tells you what keywords your competitors are bidding on.Trellian.com gives you so much data on where your competitors get their traffic from.Is it through PPC or organic,which search engines,what keywords do they use.I mean look at this SEO Toolbox below

You can download the software for free,though hosting is required for which there is a charge. This varies according to which hosting service you use.Typically a domain name will cost you about $10 a year and hosting about $40. To grab the software go to the Wordpress site here Please do not confuse Wordpress.org with Wordpress.com the latter being a free service but I do not recommend it.It has far less functionality than the .org site which allows loads of plug ins to your site. So go and get Wordpress.org now! Pay per clickA short cut to getting high rankings on the search engines is by using pay per click.These are the ads you see to the right of Google next to the organic search results.However you have to pay to have an ad here.If not done correctly PPC can end up costing you alot of money,as you bid big money for the more competitive keywords. You need to learn how to go after the "long tail keywords" where there is less competition.To learn all these stratergies I recommend Perry Marshall's Guide to Google Adwords which will help you set an effective ad campaign even if you are on a budget. Don't waste your ad money.Learn from the best.
