How the internet has changed the process of lead generation
The old methods of lead generation were only of use to those who already had a large social and business network. They in effect had a large warm market with which to build their front line until it reached critical mass and took off. They just needed to ask for one referral off close personal and business friends and that was enough. But for most their warm market is just not big enough to pay for their advertising. They saw eventually this business costs them money it so they quit, just like the other 95% who have a go at MLM. Talking to strangers in the mall or renting booths at exhibitions and hearing all that rejection would be enough to put off most people so are you surprised. Thanks to the internet this is now changing with the advent of social media being the dominant trend in how people communicate online. This means that anybody can now put themselves in front of an audience of millions at almost no cost. Before the internet ,mass communication through the print media, radio and television required huge capital outlay beyond the budget of anyone except large companies. Now with YouTube you can have your own TV station, any website, blog or Squidoo lens is you own newspaper. The trick is of course to get these mediums ranked high on the search engines. To do this requires optimising your site and knowing which keywords or keyword phrases so use.If you are starting out try for the less competitive keys works that aren't used as much by searchers, but generate less competition from websites who are after the same eye balls as you are. By setting out your online real estate you will have leads coming to you not you going to them. So how do you start generating these leads.Once you have a website or blog up and running, you can drive traffic to your sites with a variety of free resources. Once such resource is a website called Traffic Swarm which you can find
here.
This site allows you to link to your website or affiliate sites and bring in free traffic. It takes a few minutes to set up but once that is done you can leave it on auto pilot. There is a need to top up the number of "credits" you have to keep you links on the site but this can be done very quickly, and it's all free.
Building on a Budget
Below is a video I made about Mike Dillard's Building on a Budget handbook in which he sets out the various methods you can use to generate leads at little or no costVideo marketing is one of those methods. All the videos you see on this site I shot using a Flip video camera which you can get from Amazon a great camera that is so simple to use and a low price compared to the cameras made by say Sony and Panasonic. You can make these videos in minutes, edit them in Windows Media Player if you have a PC or iMovie if you have a Mac,then upload to YouTube. Other avenues Mike explores are Ezine articles or press releases.Go
