Search engine optimization ,or SEO,is the way to boots your rankings and get people to find your site.

How is this achieved?You need two things:a keyword list and backlinks

Keywords

If your site is not known to these search engines then your mlm lead generation system will not work.

Say you want to buy a tent then your type "tent" into Google, and Google will list all the web pages that have that word shown.

So you need to know what words of phrases that people are using to find information that your website relates to.

Now if you have a website about network marketing then you would be right in thinking many people will use "network marketing" to find out information about this subject.

The problem is everyone else who has a web page about network marketing wants to show up on the Google search results.

The problem you have is that "network marketing" is a highly competitive keyword phrase and the chances of you coming up on page one of Google for your new and small website are remote.

In fact I have just typed network marketing into Google and there are 12.4 million webpages with that keyword phrase on them!Wow now that is competitive.

To overcome this problem what you need to do is start with less competitive keyword phrases.These are known as "longtail word" phrases and whilst the number of people using them in the searches,the demand if your like, is low,the number of webpages with that phrase,the supply ,is low too.

So the chances of you ranking higher on the search results are better.So how do you find these less known keyword phrases?

Well Google has a free keyword research tool which you can find here .Type in the phrase "network marketing" and it will list all the other phrases that contain this phrase that are less competitive.

If you want greater depth then I recommend Wordtracker Armed with these tools you can build a list of keywords and start start building webpages around each one.As you site grows in size and receives more visits you site will move up the search rankings.Your MLM lead generation system will start delivering prospects to you.

It's a snowball effect :you get more visits because you're getting more visits!

They are also known as hyper links and are usually coloured blue and underlined on a web page.What you need is lots of links from lots of websites back to yours.

But not just any sites.They must be sites relevant to your subject and be already well regarded by Google.To help you know if a site is well regarded Google have developed a Page Rank tool which you can down load and add to your browser such as Explorer or Firefox.

Google ranks sites on a scale of one to ten ,one being the lowest ranked.You want to try and find sites that are ranked five or higher.Contact the webmaster of that site and ask for a link.

Alternatively there are web directories that will list your site for others to find.Make sure they are reputable sites as bad ones will do your rankings no good.

Yahoo, has a directory but there is a charge of $299.Others have a charge of between $30 to $80 or they are free.
